Suqian, the youngest prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province (established in July 1996), was historically known as Xiaxiang and Suyu. Located in northern Jiangsu on the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, it governs three counties, two districts and four functional zones, with a total area of 8,524 square kilometers and a permanent population of about 4.98 million.

It is the hometown of Xiang Yu, the Hegemon of Western Chu, and a core area of Chu-Han culture. Emperor Qianlong stayed here five times during his six southern inspection tours, praising it as "the finest spring scenery under heaven".

Home to two major freshwater lakes—Hongze Lake and Luoma Lake, the city is crossed by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Ancient Yellow River. Abundant in wetland resources, it is acclaimed as "Jiangsu's Ecological Grand Park".

As China's Liquor Capital, Suqian is the birthplace of Yanghe and Shuanggou, two famous Chinese liquors. It is also honored as the "Hometown of Flowers and Trees", "Hometown of Poplars" and "Hometown of Aquatic Products".

Ecologically livable and industrially vibrant, Suqian is a bright pearl of the Yangtze-Huaihe region that integrates millennial cultural heritage, picturesque lake and river views, and modern vitality.
